A narrowboat holiday with us is simple and stress free; life feels very different when you swap busy roads for quiet waters.

You potter along at a few miles an hour, stop when you are ready, and your accommodation comes with you. There's no suitcases to unpack at every stop and no timetable to chase.  On the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal, time slows down to walking pace. You move gently through the Brecon Beacons National Park, past fields, trees and stone bridges, with birds for company and hardly any traffic on the water.

Every day on the canal can be as quiet or as busy as you like. Some people enjoy moving a short distance in the morning, finding a quiet spot to moor up, then settling with a book, a cup of tea and the sound of birds in the hedge. Others like to cruise for most of the day, watching the landscape change slowly and spotting herons, kingfishers and other wildlife along the way.
